Was thinking of buying a small chipper but have never used one and know
the ones at "box stores" are really cheap. Has anyone used a DR. chipper.
What's good used price? Any Advice?

I own one of the bigger ...18 hp DRs ....I would gladly sell it for 1/2 what I paid for it .....it does what they say it will do but I can get chipped wood by the truckload for a whole lot cheaper than what it takes me to chip wood with the unit ...it is better than the ones that you find at Lowes, HD etc. ....but I don't feel it is worth the time it takes to chip with it .....

Thanks Stumper

tenacrewoods,

Since I didn't have commercial requirements, I purchased a MacKissic MacKissic 12PT10 (10 HP, 3 1/2 inch) after hearing very good things about it. So far I dropped 10 big oaks (100 footers) in my back yard and have run them through this machine. The machine is strong and extremely well built. I talked with the rental dealer across town and he said that these things last up to 5-6 years of constant rental/commercial use! For a homeowner that would be a lifetime. I like to use the shredding hammers on my garden refuse as well. It makes good compost ready material, and allows you to select 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch screens.

They typically cost about 1500 dollars.

Thank you Greenhobby Thats closer to my price range, looks like it's just what
I need. Now I'll Just have to stop buying saws  for awhile to save the
money.
