I expect that there are some major mishap stories out about property damage or bodily damage. Care to share?

this was before my time at the company prob 5-8 years ago but I heard stories of the forman dropping either an entire tree or a huge limb on a near new mercades and totaling it HO supposidly came out and was acting like nothing ever happened when he was talking it over with the boss man, good thing he wasn't to attacdhed to the car, I woulda been pissed

You guys carry insurance? man I wouldnt be able to keep my poulan fueled if I payed insurance. Jeez, next your going to tell me youve been taught to do what you do. Me and my 83 datsun truck and my 3 daughters and mother in law are the only tree company here thats keeping it real.

Our company logo (okay its a tag we put on peoples fence at night) says it all

"if ya want your trees to meet with death, choose us on the meth"

Never had one.

Had a couple of small issues paid out of pocket. One was maybe $200.. some damage to eaves trough. Other was actually motor vehicle, dump backed into front bumper of a car. Was just over $1000.. but deductable is $1000 so paid out of pocket.

Do you do free estimates :)

I was working at this one place long ago, they had had a sub-contracter fall bad and the ladder on the side of the truck took out an old lady as she was standing to close to the curb.

Me? I just break fences, hearts and might bring down a cable wire or two. Boy do I get upset enough over that not to ever want to call my ins co but if ever I do I hope its for the whole she-bang, I hope that no one gets hurt and I sure hope someone got it on film cause then I can watch it and laugh while i show people what I used to do for a living. I hope to go out big and in flames baby YEAH! I hope its real exspensive, I really do. Hey, who wants to follow me around next week with a camera? I am feeling lucky!

Nope, nothing.........nada

I did do a storm removal that did over 100g's worth of damage to a house on the historic register. Copper gutters and all. My part was 6gs for the tree. It was nice, as there was no way I was causing anymore damage than was already done, no pressure on that one!:msp_thumbsup:

How about health insurance claims? Anyone make claims on your coverage? I wouldnt be surprised at all.

ive never really heard of a insurance claim being filed... unless you make somones house UNLIVABLE/fixable ......

I work for a comp company and have seen quite a few for arborist. There's been many fatalities but those are relatively cheap. The most expensive claim I've seen for a tree care worker was around 5-6 million. They worker was electrocuted, had extensive burns and seems he had to have a limb amputated.
The most expensive single claim I've ever seen was a off duty police officer that was working a fireworks show. He was inside the cab of the truck that was carrying a load of commercial fireworks that accidentally went off and was burned severely. Words cannot explain how bad he was burned and disfigured...he lost his eyes, all facial features, ears and just about ever bit if skin on his body except what was in his leather boots. The worst part was when they took some of the bandages off, his wife started crying, said she couldn't look at him, she was leaving him and taking the kids, which were still pretty young. He's bed ridden and requires 24 hour care for the rest of his life. Last I checked, the reserves were set around 18 million.
A close second was a worker wearing loose clothing got sucked into a stone crusher and lived. He requires 24 hour care and last time I checked, reserves were around 15-16 mil.
