we ran some saws for more than a few years. with good cutting chain and clean air filters. it is not that hard on them...

this a nice three log load :blob2: and one pic is of the cat that built the layouts for the trees that we fell . and they skided logs with it to. but most of the time he would be digging dirt..

That's some pretty incredible trees it you have never seen them (I haven't), Looks like a huge amount of work just to get them to a managable size.

PS, I'm still cutting up the dead stuff on the ground, haven't dropped even a weed yet.

Hey Tommy I have been watching this one waiting for you to drop the bomb. It's all to funny when some people don't give one a chance. OH EXCUSE ME but don't you owe me some money on a little bet we had.

I will see you next month. And while I am at it when you say your going to pick the phone up that once a onth thing you dred to do. You stil don't pick up. Did they just invent caller ID up there.

Bwalker to answer your ? what is a layout , it is when you have atree that has no place to fall with no good ground for it, so with a cat you would dig a bed for it . and in the bed you make mounds about 20ft apart, Higher mounds closest to the tree and tapering down the further away from the tree you get....

the tree in the last two pics had 44 thousand board feet in it was a beautiful strait tree. if i remember right it was 260 or 270ft tall anway a real nice tree.

P woozel we riped it all the way. we did not use a jack to split that one we had the loader right there. so he broke it apart. then tree in the last pics i put on we riped that one right were it layed. the cat could not pull it out from were it was. so we rip it in half and we did use the silvey to break that one apart.

it was on some steep ground to.. one thing when you are ripping one you have to be careful when you get to the end they will break apart and slam back togeather...

macman, I deleted your post and several others from other posters over the last few days. I plan to continue doing so until the chainsaw forum gets cleaned up a bit.

Since you are a friend of mine I hope you will understand, I also want it to be noted that I try to be as unbiased in moderating as a person can be, but sometimes I have to take action.
