Whats your favorite place to get milling bars and chain? Do you have a preferred brand of either?

no favorite for me. most of the bars i buy are used, some chains were used(most bought from private sales) chains bought new ,i look for sales.

btw, there is specific milling chain, but not bars.

Baileys-online.com, and Granberg. There is a milling bar available that has mounting for a chain saw engine on each end. I've got one, and it helps to have the extra power when cutting through a 40" burr oak. Takes two very determined sawyers.

While there are no specific bars for a CSM (other than the dual powerhead version) Some have favorites for one reason or another. Stiffness, wear qualities, etc. I'm curious about those.

Dave, I've milled with a dual powerhead mill a few years ago. It was a lot of fun. We were cutting 50"+ maple if 10-12' slabs. The 395's did the job well tho I think some 880s or 3120 would be better.

I use Stihl bars and chains. I don't know if there is another chain out there that will hold an edge as well as Stihl chain. I buy all my stuff new.

I get my stuff from Bailey's, they have good deals on Bars and chains, plus they have a great selection at good prices.
