Not really. First off there are no hip d rings to clip in with a saftey lanyard. Also I would think that the wieght of a chainsaw , even a small one, would really pull down one side to much. Maybe one could use a type of gear sling to hold chainsaw ...? This type of harness may work ok for trimming with a hand saw but with out the hip D rings it would be near useless for spur climbing IMO. And since you said you are new then that complicates things even more. Trying to use gear that wasn't intended for tree climbing and being new at the same time seems like a REALLY bad idea. I realize you are trying to make do with whats available and I respect that but I think it would be a mistake for anything more than setting a rope high, tie in on ground, and climb around , maybe trim alittle with a hand saw but that would be about it. Also... This is just my opinion based on climbing trees for over 20 years...I dont know much about rock climbing gear...There may well be much more to it than I realize...I suggest trying to get a proper arborist saddle.
