Curious what others carry with them when they have to go gather firewood away from their own property. I'm fortunate that I have equipment where I am currently getting my wood so I don't need a lot.

2 saws, gas and oil, extra chains, chaps and ear protection.

And what it goes into, 7x14 dump trailer. I cut my logs 13' on site and buck to 20" here.

99 Dodge 4X4, 8' dump trailer.

20 MM ammo can has 4 25' logging chains, snatch blocks, binders, ratchet straps. 4" PVC hold 4 sections of pole saw. I can stick a light line through a crotch 20 feet high, then pull heavy line through for skidding. I have enough 3/4 inch, 17,000 pound test bull line to skid a log 300'.

Usually take the newer saws, an MS 290 and the 660. Gas, oil, an ax, maybe hatchet, and pocket knife, hearing muffs, that's about it. Only a few miles from home. Cooler of water. If I miss something I can drop the trailer and run home, Joe.

Dump trailers are a must have item for me. Mine is a 6x10. I like to hit logging sites and get their cutoffs. Usually they load the trailer for me and the wood is already in one spot next to their buck saws so basicly I just have to show up with the trailer. If I have to take trees down, I keep a couple of long chains and 150 ft of 3/8 steel cable, two snatch blocks some straps to attach the snatch blocks to other trees with to control direction of fall and drag the logs out to where I can buck and load. I'll always have at least two saws and a few spare chains. Any more, I am pretty picky about what trees I am willing to harvest. Simply getting to old to tote rounds out of the woods by hand, If I cant get it beside the truck before bucking into rounds, it stays in the woods. That 150ft of cable and snatch blocks will reach a tree a long ways off and hooked to the hitch of the truck it dont take but a thought to drag it up to the road. I have rounded up the materials to mount a small crane and winch on the tongue of my trailer, but havent gotten around to putting it on yet. I figure If I can buck the logs into 10ft lengths and load them on the trailer it will save me a bunch of lifting and handleing and make getting the wood out a litter faster.
