I recently bought a used 056 stihl. Ive got it running great now and put a 20 inch bar on it and it really tears through the larger oak and almond trunks ive been cutting. I would like to purchase a 9 and a 10 tooth sprocket for it to see how it performs. If anyone could let me know where to find larger sprockets for this saw I would appreciate it.

Dang, sounds like at that price it wouldnt make sense for cutting wood, especially if they wear out fast. I feels like the saw would really tear through wood with some more chain speed.

What size chain are you currently running? Do they make a .404 sproket for the 056? It would be a bigger bite than 3/8 at least.

Im running a 3/8 chain. Any idea if it would cut any faster with the 404 chain? Ive havent tried 404, but from what ive read on the site I think the 3/8 chain would be faster.

Are you running a 7 or 8 tooth? 8 is a standard size and makes a fair difference. If that isn't fast enough, how about filing your chain to take bigger bites?

Danzco machine is the place to order from. I wouldn't go bigger than 10. You may need to get the tail of your bar machinned to keep an easy transition to the rear of the bar.
