Hello!

Anyone know what radiator is on the 2.3L 4 cylinder pinto motor?

Woodchuck and Whisper used the pinto motor on some models, actually a Ford LSG-423, commercial 2.3L. Some differences from the Pinto, different camshaft. Engine Distributors, 800-220-2700, may be able to help locate the radiator. It's an industrial radiator. Somewhere in California sells it if I remember correctly.

Regardles sof the engine, it's not an OEM radiator for that engine. Stationary motors use oversized industiral radiators. Count the rows/cores, measure the dimensions and make note of the hose diameters and locations. Also measure the absolute limits of what will fit in the space. Jump on ebay or ring around and you're likely to find something that will work. Alternatively you can also have yours cleaned/repaired if it's not too bad.

Thanks guys. I was able to reach Altec. A new radiator is $592.00! I took mine to a local guy to see if he can fix it. It looks like the closest match I found was a 70's Ford F100.

Yeah they are pricey. Just because the physical dimensions match up doesnt mean that they will be created equal. Most industrial radiators are built much heavier and have 3-4 rows, staggered. That makes a huge difference in the cooling capabilities. Repairing is often the best solution if the damage is minor.

We just got a new radiator for our 1800xl from vermeer for $2400 after we knicked a tube. Got that fixed for 400, guy said the core was weak and he could rebuild for $2500. Go figure.

Ups damaged two new radiators during shipping. The cap on the first was totally smashed in, the second cap was still dented in, but useable, so vermeer gave us $500 off and the first radiator for free. Pretty good deal.
