Great video Wayne. I love the sound of that old girl in the cut - like it is enjoying itself. Very authentic restoration too.

Nice job on the rebuild/restore!

Watching the vid.....I was waiting for you to hook the dogs in and make that engine pull......as much as it could with that short bar!

I looked at Mike Acres' site and there isn't much info there! Needs updating!

It should be able to pull a 60" bar, I would love to try it one day
Lee might know, I'm not sure what size bar is on his Whitehead.

Those old saws usually came with short bars.
Mine has a 24 incher on it and that might be the longest
supplied bar available. No dought it will pull longer bars.

That is a saw on my never ending "want list". My Dad was a timber cutter in Tennessee in the 60's. Just last year he told me he ran a Whitehead daily. I'm assuming it was the "logger". Which makes me want one even more since Pop's ran one. He said the rest of the crew ran Homelites. He said none of them could out cut the Whitehead.

Loud is an understatement!! Bill G had one at a GTG. There was hundreds of saws there, and the Whitehead was by far louder than any other saw there. He fired it up and every head turned his way. :msp_thumbup:

Great video Wayne.

Wow Brother! That was Awesome...that old beast could chew through that log at idle!

And Revved up, she sounded GREAT! I want one!

Thanks for posting, I'll Rep ya when they reload mah cannon...

My grandson (3) attention was drawn away :msp_ohmy:from the Mickey Mouse Playhouse long enuff to watch a couple cuts. Must have been the noise.

Did I hear you grunt every time you picked it up?

Yup, needs a longer bar or add a tooth to the drive sprocket or both.

Just one tooth? Hell, that thing could (should and probably would) pull two more teeth with that bar... the damn thing actually picked up speed in the cut! :dizzy: I don't know of many saws that do such a thing...

Add a tooth and another foot to the bar... it'd pull it.

I think everyone wants a Whitehead 'Logger'... you really can't buy new saws like that one anymore.

If that thing cuts through Aussie hardwood like that, I'd bet you could eat through a good sized oak tree in no time.

Now... we just need a race between one of these and some other big ass 8.something cube saw...

W-W-Whoa!!

I love the way it buries itself half way through the wood at idle, then he gooses it!!

8 cube Rep Sent!!
