The Sequim Show that is. I will personally eat crow if Ben wins anything with his saws and will send him a GOOD 6 pack of beer. (Reference his sticky on his section) I hope all our guys do well.

Why cant Ben win with his saws? His designs are proven to be powerful...(Dean proved this! they are his designs afterall) and he seems knowledgable enough. Time will tell.

actually, my designs are my own. my race saw is NOT boost ported dean style, i have abandoned that method and switched to all my own. in the 6cube and under class i came in middle of the pack against 066s and such.

in the 5cube stock appearing class i would have placed a solid 3rd place.. BUT i disqualified with a cut-out at the bottom of the log trying to avoid a knot and got the cookie too thin.

Saw:
Stihl 044. stock bore size.
20" bar, 8T sprocket, Oregon race chain.
dual port muffler.
NWCS Race Port. (i would consider this one a moderate)

Good job Ben. Sometimes it seems impossible to get those cookies off straight.

You didn't win so no beer, but you didn't seem to do bad at all.

Fred

in my woods port saws i do a little more traditional style mod, no boost ports. i get all my fuel gains from modifying the existing transfer ports.

in this race saw, i did my mild race spec with the addition of finger ports. now that this spec has proven itself right where i was expecting i think finger ports in my mild race port work. i think if i could have gotten my 9pin race sprocket to fit and made a qualifying cut in the 5 cube i could have hit second place. the winning saw was one FAST bugger! if im not mistaken, the winning saw was Art Martin's, an old poulan i think.

i had a blast yesterday and did great for my first serious competition.
did great for being one of the smallest saws in the classes!

It's not size of saw in the class.

It's the class of the saw.

Fred

What kind of crankcase pressure did you end up with on that saw?

Fred

i did not have time before the races to even tach the saw or do a compression check. saw is still on its first tank of fuel with brand new rings and bearings. this season is practice/prep/experimentation. next season im going at it full on for winning. my saw was awesome this race and it fell on my shoulders for operator error. could have had that solid 3rd place. Dean was timing in addition to the show timers but not in a spot to see my cut-out in the 5cube stock appearing, i was the first one to tell him nope i screwed up, Disqual. i had a blast and learned alot more about tactics and racing. to me thats what this sport is about, learn all you can and just give it your all while having a blast. (and one heck of an adreniline rush!)

Hey Ben!

Well just stopped to see how everything went on sat and see if you have any times or places from the classes? I was just wondering how everone else did and who ended up on top? Thx, T.J.

hey TJ, Dean has the times and should be posting tomorow. i was just wanting to get home and start suffering from a near lobster red sunburn.

Hey guys, I will post all the time in the morning. Ben did a good job and his 044 did really well against the 6 cubes. I will say that there was a 6 cube poulan that will blow your socks off. Also a Pioneer 5 cube that was right on it's azz. Amazing saws. I will tell you guys a lot more in the morning. later

Ben, sounds like your 044 did well. Hope I can make it to one of the local races there soon.
