Who makes this?

I've seen them down at the deere dealer but never given them much thought. Are they any good?

Efco makes JD saws.

Like the man says, made by Efco/Oleo-Mac. Italian outfit who made the Olympyk brand saws for years. High quality, maybe not up there with a pro Stihl or Husky, but pretty close.

The only thing I'd be wary of is parts support. JD has used several different makers for their small equipment over the years. Oleo-Mac doesn't have much of a dealer network of their own.

Way back in some older post I remember someone explaining that efco/oleo mac was under the same Electrolux umbrella as jonsered, husky, poulan, Frigidaire etc. Anyone else remember that post?

Emak/Tecomec is the arm of Olympyk/Efco/Oleo-Mac that makes all the internal engine components for their saws and some others, including replacement parts for Stihl, Jonsered, and Husky saws. The parts are distributed here in the states by http://www.tiltonequipment.com
