I've had my 066 since 1994. Love it. I don't think I "own it" , I get to exercise this beast once in a while.

SinglerM, i have rebuilt and modified several 066s and MS660s. both internally and externally they are top notch machines. the design is quite solid and reliable. for a heavy use saw you just cant go wrong with the 660. they hold up to a good deal of abuse. they are a great milling saw. heck its just a do it all saw.

i am not a stihl dealer and will never be. stihl USA does not get along with people that mod saws. im also not very brand loyal. i will run/own Stihl, Husky, Echo, Dolmar, Solo, etc! :)

Ms660

I own, use, buy and sell 066/MS660's they are great saws... a little heavy for me but it's hard to find anything in their class that will out run one of them... The 046/MS460 is still my favorite model Stihl saw... for a all around saw.

Got one (066). Like NWCS says, it's a great "all arounder" happy bucking or happy (er, tolerant?) of milling, and makes short work of limbing (and you could look like Ahnold too after a bit of that). Casey calls it the "King of Saws", and I'm not going to disagree with him. One could argue that the Husky 395 could also fall into this category, but the &%$# outboard clutch with long bars just ^&*@#@^ me off.

I love my 066. I love my Super XL. and I REALLY REALLY like my 3120, except for the aforementioned outboad clutch, which I've been told you get used to. Never was an issue with my 150 Auto, but that has a 16" bar, not bolting a 42 onto it. Great saw though.

If I could only keep 2, the Super XL and the 066 would be hard to beat. Had to pare it down to one, the 066 stays...but I'd miss my old Homie.

Just got one little stihl in my bunch, a 066 with a woods port job. Runs real good on 93 pump gas and a 16" bar. Placed 1st at a local fair in 3 cuts in 10"x10" cant. I have a 18" for the big stuff. :ices_rofl:

My 660 usually wears an 25" hardnose Stihl bar that was originally was 3/8 pitch 50 ga. and has been converted to 58ga..I have an 32" sprocketnose but seldom use it. It really makes working with the big stuff faster and sweeter by far . I have a fair collection of 066 parts ,enough I had one together but when I discovered I had a piston pin clip still on the bench I decided to take the cylinder back off and check if it is something I overlooked or a spare part. A couple days later I couldnt get a couple cylinder bolts to break loose and broke an premium stihl torx wrench flush with the screw so its boxed for future attention.

I got one, only comes out on special occasions otherwise the 46 does a lot of the work.

Geez, I'd love a hotted up one. I run a 24" bar, I have no trouble what so ever felling larger than bar dia trees, once you get the hang of it it's no big deal.
