Recently bought a PP 375 and noticed the hand guard was half there, and just thought it was broken. Then I noticed it is not broken, just made that way. Saw 2 others on the net with the same guard. Were some of these meant to have a chain brake and they just used a " stub" ? Saw was made in Canada by the way.
Why are some Poulan Pro 375 Hand Guards just stubs?

Post up a picture of it, more than likely had a brake type cover & someone has swapped a standard clutch cover onto it.

Saw had a brake originally, your photo is just the #23 heat shield option…not a #50 HG.
Put a brake cover on it to save your left hand, lol! Or would be much cheaper to swap out with a standard HG.

Thanks for the info.So I assume the complete chain brake system would be inside the clutch cover.
It's mainly a marketing ploy, gives the buyer the impression he is getting a chain brake. A useless hand guard is REALLY cheap and some people won't buy a saw without a chain brake.
