Why are trees planted under/beside powerlines?

It is true that our arborists set the word wide standard in Tree care excellence. Places like Canada and Mexico are in the stone ages in comparison to the Boston area. Still even in our area, the proper tree selection is not always used when planting near power lines.

Yeah but in the stone ages you don't need arborists.
 
One customer of mine, who's landscaper had planted several poplars under the primary, put it ever so wonderfully.
In reference to his landscaper:


"Its hard to look up when you got your head up your @ss".
