Not sure if this is relevant, but I remember seeing this Mythbusters episode. The last line is where it connected with the question about whether trees freeze or not.
The website shows the video, but for some reason doesn't show the results-duh, but I found the summary below.

http://www.fancast.com/tv/Mythbusters/11339/1321592974/Mythbusters:-Exploding-Frozen-Tree/videos

A fresh Christmas tree doused with liquid nitrogen can spontaneously explode.
BUSTED
For a control test, a Christmas tree explosion was made using a detonation cord. Then, a second Christmas tree was sprayed with liquid nitrogen. But after half a hour and with the temperature of the tree plummeting to almost −330 °F (−201.1 °C), no explosion occurred, not even after Tory shot it with buck shot bullets. The myth was busted because conifers and other kinds of cold-climate trees have air spaces outside the tree cells large enough to accommodate the expanding water as it turns into ice, preventing them from freezing and thus preventing an explosion.

Hey guess what? Climbing in the winter sux! But you know what? I always tell the client the same thing. My mortgage isnt going away cuz theres snow on the ground , or because its 10 degrees out. Or less.:cry: Thats me , every time. Especially when Im wearing "limited motion man" gear. My advice, buy some wigwam zero's, and some gloves .

LMAO!

Being a tropical white person, I certainly hate climbing in the freezing ass cold. But money don't grow on trees ya know...:confused::confused:

OK Scratch that, maybe it does grow on trees.

For what it's worth I have never noticed any tree react any differently just because of the freezing cold. Just be careful if it has added weight because of ice or snow. :yoyo:
