Sort of long story but bare with me. I had my cousins saws, a 290 farmboss and Poulan Super 25DA. The Stihl needed 2 chains sharpened and the Poulan needed a new chain. All got done today and he came over to get them. While he was over he asked me if Id help him cut a big maple that fell in his neighbors yard from the hurricaine. I said sure! Then he said "got any big Poulans for sale? I want a bigger saw." He saw my 4000 and asked if I had another like it. I thought about it and said actually I do. We were burning daylight so we put his 2 saws and my PP395 in his truck and I said Ill meet you there and have a saw for you.
For the rest of this story Im not proud but Ill be honest. 2 years ago Brian (cousin) got a like new Craftsan/Poulan 3700. I mean mint, case, manual, scrench, maybe 3 tanks. He asked me to try to get it started and if not let him know. I was new to saws but quickly learned (from here) that the chrome bore, thin ring 3700 was a very good saw. I Told him it needed work, and he said ehh forget it and bought the 290. I then carbkitted and fuel lined the 3700 and, really its like a new 61cc saw. It was so nice i used it tice to drop 2 pines and cleaned it and shelfed it. Today I thought, thats the saw for him. He didnt know what he had and it should go back to him.
I met him at the house and we started cutting. I must say the PP395 is a BEAST! I had the 20" buried in maple and that saw just dug in! Very impressive. Halfway thru he asked to see the saw. I said its in the bed of my truck. He came back grinning, "is this the one I gave you?" "Yup, runs awesome now." Thankfully it fired on the 3rd pull cold, not bad for a saw that sat for 6 months! He made a few cuts and was very happy. Tomm hes getting a 20"b/c for it as it has an 18" and lousy safety chain on it now.
So now he has a nice Poulan S25DA and the 3700. Whats he gonna do with that Farm Boss??
20" rounds. short work for the PP395
