I scored this load thru craigslist about 5 miles from home. I think it is mulberry just want to make sure so I can save some for cooking :food: before it gets mixed in with the 2011/2012 wood pile

Its bright yellow when split but turns dark orange after a week.

I have know idea what this other wood is. The bark is almost black, Im guessing some type of ornamental.

Lower two pics look like black birch. Don't know about the other you think may be mulberry.

yup. Cherry. dark heartwood contrasting with light colored sapwood. Felt pretty confident based on pic 1 and 2, but the clincher for me is the gob of sap in the last pic. I love it and whish I had more. Good heat, splits easy and smells great.

However, never put a picnic table under one of these. They are prolific fruiters and the small eraser-sized berries will leave an indellible stain on the seat of your panst should you sit on one. :(

The other one in pic #3 with the spots looks like buttonwood/sycamore. Never burnt any. Scarce up this way, so I'm not 100%.

Well, that didn't take long.

Nice score on the wood there. That Sycamore , if you can split it, works good for early or late in the season so you don't run out of better wood when the temps drop outside.

Wow

Thanks, u guys are fast! If its cherry I think I'll save some of it for cooking also.:givebeer:
