i have been looking at gas powered log spliters , what i have found so far , the 27 ton ,with a honda motor at lowes for $1399, is the best buy, i read about customer comments, the motor gets hit by the longer wood ,some put a sheild over it , i looked at it and see what they mean , still looking online and local, any help, thanks

This splitter is pricier, but uses an inertial flywheel and can split more in a shorter time due to the faster cycle time.

thanks, i cant pay that much , i just found a 22 ton at meards on sale till end of august for $899, but it has a briggs on it, 3 year warranty. it didnt say how fast it was. the one at lowes is 19 seconds.

i wouldn't worry to much.

Fast will probably never cross your mind using that.

Check out the Northstar splitters. Maybe not the best or fastest, but they work well. I have split a bunch of wood w/ mine, w/ no issues yet, and they are priced well, w/ the good Honda motors on them.
