I wasn't sure what forum to ask this question in but you guys seem to know everything so I thought this was the best place to ask :D Approximately how much does a face cord of mixed hardwoods weigh? If it's easier a cord?

Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff, in the days when I did three full cords from stump to pavement, I had things down to a science. In those three cords there was an average of 1000 pieces +- 5%. Which tells us that each piece averaged 14-15 lbs., green. This was for split fuelwood cut heavy to 16" with the odd doorstop, clunker, conversation piece or chopping block thrown in.

can somenoe tell me what the dimentions of a cord is ??..........if a customer wants to keep his logs we usualy cut them to 4 ft lengths and call it cord lengh ...but i actualy havent a clue as to what a real cord is..moto , never to old too learn:D :

1 cord = 128 cu. ft. stacked anyway you want, but typically measured 4 x 4 x 8. Around here stovelength is typically 16".

My understanding of the prictice is that an 8 ft cord was actually used for the measurements to inspect. full length on the face and half lenght for depth and hight.
