So, I've been thinking about my future chainsaw mill using my 3120xp. (bought exclusively for this purpose) A few things have been on my mind, as I've read somewhere here on AS that you should run way rich when milling and use more oil to gas, (as low as 12:1 on synthetic!?!) and do whatever you can to keep heat at it's lowest. (keep dem chains sharp sonny) Well, that stinkin' fixed HS jet really chaps my britches, and prevents me from richening it up. In addition, it makes porting the muffler impossible without drilling the carb. I also heard that it sounds a bit congested (thanks EPA) and would like to see that cleared up. I'm not neccessarily looking for more power. Rather, I'd like to see equal power with less wear & tear on the saw. (though more power would be a nice bonus) I know the rev limiter locks it out at 12K, and that's fine as long as it runs cooler.

So I'm thinking about sending it off to Northwest Chainsaw for a Woods Port modification job and (hopefully) get an adjustable HS jet fitted. I haven't made any calls yet, and decided to see what your opinions are to this idea.

Sounds good to me. I wish my 3120 had a little more power. I've messed with the muffler and it seemed to make it wake up some. I keep daring myself to install a 395 coil to get a little higher top end, it would have an impact on reliability though…:deadhorse:
