If you saw the F-Word thread you know I have to replace a 28" bar for my 385XP. The bar I ruined was a Forester. I was looking through the Baileys catalog and they carry different brands. The Oregon is about $60, Carlton Pro-Champ is about $25, Windsor is around $57, and the Woodsman PRO is $115. I liked the Forester fine but really hadn't had it on long enough to tell much about it.

So my question is are the Woodsman Pro bars worth twice the rest and of those listed, What would you purchase. 'Preciate the input.

I have a few but don't buy them anymore. For me they do probably last twice as long as an Oregon, but the extra weight is not worth it for me. Another down side is they are so hard that I can't dress them with a file in the same way as my other bars.

I find them well machined and stiff so other than weight I like them alot. My 395 with a 36 inch WP (Canon) is a back breaker.

Very valid points imo.....:D :biggrinbounce2:

I believe the Woodsmannpros are the same as Cannon, and there have been several comments on their weight here at AS.

I think that some WoodsmanPRO is made by Carlton for Woodland International, Inc.

I guess I had the impression that all the WP chains and bars were made by Carlton, no? I don't know how similar the GB Pro Champ bar you mention is to the GB CN40 bar that I have, they both seem to have some ti in them. The CN40 is an excellent bar, imo, very stiff, pretty hard, works really well on my 7900.

Personally, I'm surprised no one has brought up the ugly factor yet...I understand form follows function, but what function does ugly paint serve?

Up to 24" I use Husky Windsor and GB bars with equal performance from all. 28" and up I have Cannon and GB CN40 Titaniums. I prefer the Cannon bar and if they were not so costly would use them in the smaller sizes as well.

I like the deals on the Carlton Pro-Champ, just check your DL count if you have lots of chain loops, as they are less than Oregon/others. I am happy with the one I got, but wonder if these are the same as the CN-40s from GB, since they are Ti and made by GB?

Good news:blob2:

I thought it was ruined but a vise, a big hammer and a little try and we had it back pretty straight in just a few minutes. It's still got a little crook in it but it cuts fine. I did have to drive a screwdriver down the rail to loosen it up but we're back in business. Thanks for the info though fellows.
