I offer on yours judgement some photos. It not my work. My opinion, that this work is made very well. The very high quality and carefulness scraping, turns out a smooth surface.
The following two photos of an oak show it.
However, about other photos there are some questions.

Hollow tree

This tree a pipe. The bottom part of this pipe is cleared very well, however top part is not cleared. To reach there it is impossible (it the kind from within) is visible on one of a photo. A question: whether Will give result such cleaning, if in the top part there was decay a wood?

The following three photos show a linden at which in general there is no half of trunk in a bottom. Also very high quality of work. However, my opinion, it is hazard tree and I would remove it.
How it your opinions?

I just looked at your 1st pic. It looks like the injury could be a result of construction damage. other factors could be planting depth, backfill depth, compaction. What treatments were performed?

Now precisely to tell therefore damage it was impossible. It very old damage. The physiological condition of a tree, density of a crone, colour of foliage is normal. Are undertaken only clearing of a place of damage and removal of all diseases wood.

personaly i would suggest removing these trees,i think they are a major risk hazard ,it looks too me that the tree by the roadside may have been hit by a car .in a wood i would certainly leave them

surely its better too leave a decaying tree alone and not scrape out all the old rot ,or am i incorrect,by scrapeing out the rotten wood surely the trees naturale healing proccess is interfered with

I ain't no CA, but I've allways cleaned out the rotting wood, bark traced the raggedy spots, and applied some type of pesticide.

What Grigory is doing looks a little different.

hazardous trees

The only recommendation I would make on those trees is to remove them, they are pretty badly decayed and scraping and painting will do nothing to help them

The lime/linden in the second series neec to be removed. No discussion.

There'e a chance that there might be enough strength left in the pipe linden. Without doing the measurements it's only a guess.

Same goes with the oak. It all depends on which hazard rating system you use.

Why remove them if you don't have to?

I agree with MB. It depends on their location. If they fall, what will they hit? If they fail in a storm, will everyone be inside out of danger?

But they are sketchy trees!

This hazard tree should have been taken down.

I hope someone did not have to pay much to get all that work done just to delay the take down.

If i am called out to an estimate to give recommendations for tree care and the tree(s) are that badly deacyed, I will not not recommend anything else. If I were to prune or do cavity work(which I have neverdone) I as an arborist am assuming liabilty by not recommending the removal. Then when there is failure and someone is hurt or killed because of it, I am in the clear.

I have more than once told a homeowner a tree should be removed when 2 or more other arbos made no such mention. Then the next day with a light breeze and....

....there she goes.

What tophopper mentions is a practice I know many, many arborists partake in. Simple CYA.

I wonder how many trees are needlessly removed as a result of this mind set.

And what, falls to the ground? Then you've got to clean it up?
Big deal. You might be able to add years to the life of that tree.

I don't see that tree as being a 'hazard' tree.
