personaly i think myccorihzal solutions are a great thing to use on healthy trees, that are growing in unatural situations ie 60% of urban trees but, from my limited knowledge on the subject feel that its a waste of time to use this treatment on already decaying trees .

Sometimes it is. It all depends on the vigor of the pathogen and the vigor of the tree.
