How often do you guys work inside of structures? About a week or two ago I picked up a cottonwood removal which was inside of a deck. I had a teacher a couple years ago who when he worked for DAVEY took down a tree which was growing up through a glass roof at Tavern On The Green. I know it's not a common thing to do, but I was just curious how often you guys do it?

a few times a year we do work at old folks homes with enclosed courtyards. mostly pruning, have done a small removal. drag the brush in small tarped loads thru the hallways. not my favorite but definitely a change in pace.

Sometimes (w/no roof) the best way to drop something is up:D !

Brush is good for absorbing shock and having 3' mattresses around for forgiveness, options. Tires absorb too and reset easier.

Padded roof one time around tree through roof and laid 4x4's across; rigged some off of them. Using the wierd situation to my advantage.

Super flexing of hinges through wide arcs to mos neutral position.

Around here, if I'm doing a removal INSIDE a structure, it wasn't MEANT to be inside. Mother nature just sorta landed it there.
:D

When I was 17 I removed a 60' tall spruce tree that was growing inside of a deck. The deck had obviously been built around the tree. There is a japanese maple at a bar over here which is growing up through the covered, outside portion which I would really like to prune. Good size tree, really nice setting, and at night a nice amount of pretty ladies

Years ago, living in a southwestern city I did a couple of completely indoor jobs a year-trees inside fancy homes or offices which were totally enclosed and under glass/skylights. I moved to a mountain community where every dingbat in the area seemed to have built a pine tree into their house or deck. If you count roof eaves notched for trees I was probably averaging at least 1 removal a week. Where I am now I work on two or three trees inside decks per year-nothing inside a roofed structure in the last 5.
