It’s a safety issue, when the chain is tensioned correctly, it will change color!:p

I think the blue Zip model was an earlier one and the red ones are later models. could be wrong though

Good one Rob, no glases needed.
Sounds about standard Oldsaw-Addict, when they get older they change looks....
But where are the grey hairs? :blob2:

I am notr sure, Mange, but your saw looks like a model EZ-6. Homelite might have changed some things around for import models. You can look up the specs on mike's site, but the Zip was a consumer model built on the same general saw as the old EZ, but came later. the original EZ series used the same design engine as the previous model 17, 4/20 and 5/20, except no gear reduction, and small improvements in designs year by year.

Man thats an old saw, when did it come out?

No kickback protection, chain isnt tentionion properly, and it looks to be heavy - Keep the chips flying!

I Think it`s a lot like D700 and set them up together and they look alot alike, and the same cylindersize 5,64cu.in.
Weight: zip-6 18lbs, 700D 19,3lbs. There is some other things different too, but nothing big. If you are correkt, eyolf I think D700 is closest.

BSM It came out 1961, 5-20 1955, and 700D 1960.
Not my favorit wood saws.... But che chain is fixed.
As for protection... Well it`s safe where it stands.
:D
