Tip the engine of any modern consumer duty Stihl or Husky to the horizontal position and you have got your Mac back. I think that they compare very well to the 290-390 series Stihl. The Stihl is a little smoother but power-wise similar to the 310/390 in the cut.

I like them and would be more than happy to relieve all of you Mac haters of the yellow headache you so despise. I will even pay USPS parcel post shipping costs.:biggrinbounce2:

The Mac 610 is considerably "cushioned" compared to the Mac 6-10.

I can still get most parts for my Mac 610 easier than any of my Dolmars, Solos or Echos.:hmm3grin2orange:

I had a Mac 610 that I bought from Sears. They advertised it as a 'pro' saw. We nicknamed it 'Man Killer' because it was so heavy. It did cut fairly well, but it finally broke the crank or threw the rod (sounded real bad as it wound down :) ). I never tore it down, no AS back then. Next 'big' saw was the Poulan 3450 I still run. The old 610 is buried in a landfill somewhere.

I use my Bear when trunks bogging my 029 down.
As long as I wear ear muffs and don't walk around much, it's fine.
It starts fine and idles right down. Comp release is very helpful.
It came with one of the oil tank screws loose (leaks!) and the chainbrake sucks, but other than that it's strong, as far as I can tell.
Someday I'll get a big Stihl, but gotta finish the house and a couple of other honeydos first! Five saws now, including an electric bought for wife and an Eager Beaver with carb problems (I'd like to sell this one to a collector!)
Bear, MS250, 029, Beaver, electric...probably enough for firewood.

I have one just about like that but mine is a 3.7 ci...204088a. looks just like the one you have but with a decompression valve on the side.

I had a mini mac out cut my 200T

while I was refueling :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

That brings back bad memories! I had one of those Mini Macs years ago. If you ran it for more than a couple of minutes, your hands would go numb from the vibes! Makes my old 041 seem tame. Just today somebody gave me an old Power Mac top-handle. Haven't decided what the h*ll I'm gonna do with it. I keep thinking about that old Mini Mac...................
