i have the old xxv poulan top handle .
cuts real good. my question is to what cc it is. ive seen info that it is 38cc and other that its 34cc. one other q . its got about 90 lbs compression. is that [shes on her last leg signs ] or not .it does still cut strong w 10 inch bar. i been playin with my new compression tester.:)
any input appreciated. tm

Steve here...
I have a XXV deluxe from the late 70's early 80's. Mine is 2.0cu 33cc's. I don't think mine has much squeeze. I can check it if you'd like me to. Mines in nice shape, but i noticed the crank has a little play in it's bushings. I think the cranks on these get extra stress, because it only has one bolt holding the bar on. How is the crank bushings on yours.

steve . thats what id been thinking, my motor was [about 33-34 cc] then i see one on ebay ,this fello says its 38 cc.
so got me to wondering.
my old saw seems to be pretty tite.
in fact i like it bout as much as i do my cs3000 echo. i really like that little 10 inch bar. whod a thot.:) found 3 new chains for it on ebay for 5 bucks the other day. this is one 15 dollar bet that was a winner. makes up for some that dont turn out. later now tm

A couple of months ago the last XXV left my fleet of saws. Now I have buckets of spare parts. If you guys need or want any spare parts, some brand new in factory packages, let me know. I want to clean out my shed.

Send me an email off the forum.

Poulan actually made that same saw in 1.8 cid, 2.0 cid (34cc) and 2.2 cid. Most of them were 2 cubes. The only ones with 2.2cid that I have seen had an antivibration system.

Poulan made several models on the 2000 chassis, including the microXXV. I can't recall any of those having an AV setup though. I had a couple of those when I first started, then moved to the Super25DA and Super25AV. A little heavier, and they had a cast cover for the carb/ air filter instead of plastic.

When I hear about a Poulan 25, I think of the Super25 like this one. Here's a closeup of me and my Super25 from many years ago.

Brian,It wasn't much of an AV system -rubber isolator mounts for the front handle. The AV system added some bulk but didn't seem to do much.

Hi All,I believe that saw(or one close to it) is still available from poulan. Now its called the pro180.I have a craftsman version (38cc) that was a gift from my wife in 1988.It is very tired and is a back up.I know the pro's would'nt be caught dead with anything other than a Husky or a Stihl, but I've had Great service from my cheap poulan.

mikey . im thinkin mabe the small saws
from poulan mite not be to bad..
my experience with their 46 cc saw
turned me away from that color green though. cuttin fools but about two wks working and they started having all kinds o problems. starting w a recoil that was junk. 2 did the same thing so im convinced they must be using a cheaper recoil than is on the poulan pro.they lasted about two wks as a replaceme3nt for a stolen 028. i then switched to the poulan pro ,which held up better, until it was stolen.[they caught the whole theft ring
later that yr.] in any case i still have the craftsman that i bought as a temporary fix.
this leads me to think that the craftsman line is made to poulan pro specs.
ps ive since purchased several 028 so im back where i need to be.:) cept im still lookin to ge the 372.:)christmas is coming so im hoping my kids are reading. good used is fine ,20-22 inch bar. thts huquevarna 372,22 inch bar.

Tony,Sorry to hear about your saw being stolen.I had a 371 husky stolen out of the back of the truck while I went in to pay for gas.As for Santa, maybe drop some hints to mom.My wife seems to over hear my phone conversations and does pretty good. Good Luck !
