I guess the saying is "long-time reader, first-time poster" or something like that.

Just found out about this site a couple of months ago and decided I should sign up.

  I was lurking for more than a year before I joined, so you are a bit faster than me.

Welcome! :biggrinbounce2: :biggrinbounce2:

lurking

I think we all lurked before signing up, some longer than others obviously.
I heard about this site around late '01 early '02 from a guy on gunbroker who did chainsaw reviews. I remember he said he bought them, ran them for X number of hours, then did a complete teardown. I never saw any of his reviews or know for whom he did them, but I remember him always saying whenever chainsaws came up that Stihl had much better marketing strategies than they did products. He, on one occasion, cited this site as an example of 'supposed experts swallowing a marketing ploy'. As this ran contrary to my beliefs I visited here often to hear what I wanted to hear, and that was that Stihl made the best saws on the market, and always had. I finally decided to sign up here in the first part of 04 due to gunbroker forums being overrun by loudmouth fools that I could no longer stand to read.
At that time I was also beginning to take a break from guns, and political issues surrounding them, and it was great to come home after a long days climbing trees and talk with men who knew exactly what I had been doing all day, because they were doing it too.

anyhow, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. :taped:

Welcome to the site.

Until I found this site, I never in a million years realized that there was so much to know about a chain saw, let alone having an active web-site dedicated to the subject. I enjoy reading people's passion and knowledge on the subject, and I'm gaining valuable info needed to do some serious whacking this coming spring.

I snuck in myself.I had to start posting as soon as I found this site.It is very similar to woodsracer.com where I used to reside, but due to knee problems I am gonna have to back out of motorcycle racing,so this will help me stay away from the site and keep dirt bikes out of my brain .It's gonna be hard because like anything else it's an addiction.I found a link to this site while looking for a new knuckle boom truck and figured I would fit right in.I already had enough tree equipment and chainsaws for three other tree crews, since I do this for a living cutting wood is anything but a hobby for me,but I could really get into modifying chainsaws. After my dirt bike days and winning a 250C championship,a 250B,250A,PRO,VETA,VetB,VetPro,and SeniorA championship, all in different seasons of course,it was like someone took part of my life when I was told to quit riding and racing for at least a year. After finding this site it has helped numb the pain a little.
