Why don't you just take your rs chains and grind 'em the way you want 'em? When I'm cutting in dirt or fence rows and the like I, I got a couple chains I grind at 75deg. Stihl rm chains are 85deg, but that's a little straighter than I like.

Unless I'm reading your post wrong... That's the wrong direction for dirt etc.... you'll be puting more hook into the cutter that way and a finer top place angle (underneath). The steep side angle on the RM is visually deceiving and is due to the compound curve of the cutter shape. As an example, if you grind and RS exactly the same "angle" as the RM, one come out about 85, the other about 60. The top plate angle underneath the flat portion is the same.


RS is hopeless in dirt anyhow, no matter how you grind it. As soon as the tip is shot, the cutter is just a club.
