Hope I'm in the correct forum. I recently felled a very large ash, about 30" at the base. Neighbor asked for a round so her daughter could paint. I cut a 3" thick cookie and put inside a non-heated inside the house garage. I expected it to crack over time, but almost immediately it started and is now about 2" wide, tapering to the center. Also, probably 3 other fingers radiating out from the center.
Asking the pro's here, is there a way to slow or stop this cracking on the next round I cut for her? Knowing all wood will crack, just trying to minimalize them.
Thanks to all.
