We use all sorts of acronyms and abbreviations, many specific to a narrow range of interests. Some are intuitive, some not.

I've searched on-site for the meaning of a couple, with no joy. Maybe we could compile such a reference: a Micro-Chainsaw-Glossary.

A starter: what is a "NOS" part? (besides not "nitrous oxide system") :popcorn:

NOS refers to New Old Stock. The term is typically used to refer to parts that were manufactured during the production run as spares and never installed. They are critical for proper restorations, especially in automotive circles.

Easiest is to just Google the abbreviation and see what comes up.
Next Google "abbreviations" and get sites like...http://www.abbreviations.com
Then simple to figure out what your abbreviation matches to your application.

I can find some things Ron....buffett....beer store......woodpile. But the search function here defeats me. I guess I don't know how..;)
 
For what it's worth, and in response to those who can use google but have no luck with this sites search function, do you know you can do site specific searches through google too? Just type your search terms then a space and type:
site:arboristsite.com

e.g.:
NOS site:arboristsite.com

would yield these search results
