Fees on shipping costs? What does that mean? They are going to charge a fee to ship the item? They don't ship the items. What if I do not charge shipping?

if i read it right,,, the cost you put in the box for shipping you will have to pay a fee on that amount,,just like the final fee

Double dipping, paypal gets a fee for both the sale and the shipping so it's only fair that ebay does to...........Oh wait a minute ebay owns paypal so I guess it's quadruple dipping.

I thought the Gov't used to protect consumers from such price-gouging! It kinda falls into the same league as predatory lending, in my opinion. Now, the're trying to get me to get a paypal debit card....I don't think so...:taped:
I think maybe my time with eBay is limited. Ten years and I am kind of burned out anyway.
That means if you charge $15.00 or so to your buyer and it's paid to you, then ebay is gonna charge you a fee of around 10% or so on that shipping+ the normal final value fee of around 10% or so.
The news got the same kind of reaction that it did over on the ebay site...nobody is very happy about paying more. Some say this is the straw that broke the camel's back and are leaving. If you choose not to charge the customer shipping then you still have to pay the Post Office anyway so expect to get about $15 or $20 less if you sell a chainsaw on ebay and ship it very far. I'm sure that if you jack up your shipping $3 ebay will ding you for excessive shipping costs but we'll have to see. Craig's List is mainly for local sales and you have a lot less exposure but I guess you could ship to other states through CL and accept postal money orders.

So when you sell on ebay and get paid through paypal, is ebays fee already taken out before you get your payment deposited in paypal or do you still owe ebay money for their fee?
Fees are taken out once a month for eBay. But when you receive money from a buyer, the paypal fees are taken as it is put into your paypal account.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, GreedBay is doing this to encourage sellers to offer free shipping. The few times that I've tried free shipping, I lost money. I was selling identical items with the exact same auction setup, the only difference was one had free shipping and the other didn't. The one that had free shipping got more at auction, but not enough to compensate for my shipping cost.
