I got this saw from someone who said it was under the bench, taking up room. They didn't know any history on it, or whether or not it ran. I made a low-ball offer, sight unseen, that was accepted. The saw came today and I couldn't believe the condition. It's not perfect, but it was much better than I had imagined. Things got even better when I tried to start it. I primed it and gave it a pull. I couldn't believe it when it tried to run on the first pull with the limited shot of mix. I could hard get the lid off of the tank fast enough. I fueled it and it started and ran on the second pull!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing on the saw is cracked, and I can only see one bolt that is a mis-match!!! Otherwise it is ready to cut wood. It came with a 24" bar with lots of life!
I do have a question about what the compression should be. I can only get about 140psi. I pulled the muffler and the piston is clean with machine marks still showing. Is this normal for this saw? I have an R16 and a 5000+. The 5K blows 180psi (with a squish of .040"!!!!) and I think I remember the R16 blowing 165psi. But I think this saw has it roots in the Pioneer line? I am also picking up a PP405 this Friday.
