I’m looking to buy a bigger saw. Of what I seen the 400 is what I’m looking for. I have seen some videos of the 400.1 vs the 400 and it is impressive. It also seems easier to work on. Should I wait for the 400.1 or get the 400. Not in a rush just want to know what the experts on here think. That is if 400.1 will come to the USA.

I’d buy the 400, 400.1 is smaller displacement. 400.1 may be faster but 400 will pull a longer bar and be a better saw if your cutting hardwood. No replacement for displacement. 400.1 is 62cc, 400 is 67cc. We’re not likely to see the 400.1 in the US until next year.

My dealer said he doubts we will see the 400.1 within the next year or two.

I love my 400, it's been a great saw.

Hey! I work for stihl, all these comments are correct, we will not see the 400.1 for at least two/three years. It will replace the 362/400 of the current model generation, If you do see it, it will be slowly sneak into the field.

If you need a saw, I be more than happy to help you!
