Fully automatic chain grinder for $500?

The rep from a large aftermarket parts company was at the shop last week, said they have a fully automatic chain sharpener coming out soon. Sharpens full comp and skip, does not cut the depth gauge. Will retail for under $500. That's all the info he had at the time. I wonder if it will be the "Harbor Freight grinder" of auto sharpeners?

That would be awesome, but come on, under 5 bills? It's gotta be crap quality. Do you know if it'll handle Stihl RDR chains?

I don't know for sure, he indicated it would retail for under $500 but I could have misunderstood him. and I also don't know if it will sharpen RDR chain

That's not really automatic operation, just auto feed. I have a hunch that it might be this one:




That one actually does the rakers also. It's made in China, there have been a few in the US but I'm not aware that it's currently available. It retails for $495 USD

Dinasaw in Australia make an auto. One of our members (Kiwibro) in New Zealand was looking at them and contacted a few guys in NZ that had them. They'd never buy one again and Dinasaw are a very well respected company too - the Dinasaw unit costs thousands. I can't see anything coming out at USD$500 or less that would be any good. Joe Average may not know any difference in quality but I bet members here would.
