I have one in hand and am about to mic it out compared to OEM and Meteor. It looks pretty good!

Anybody heard of these?

In lieu of all the aftermarket threads and complaints of bad aftermarket products, I've taken an interest to correct what I can. Research some products and try to find the better ones and of course give feed back where I can. I want the same thing you do, an OEM quality product at reduced pricing... it can be done!

But we also have to remember that we (chainsaw guys) are a very small group of people and that most of these manufactures of this kind of products sell mostly motorcycle type products. we are an afterthought. We demand high quality and what we may consider as unacceptable may not matter much to the UN-educated.

If I sell dog poop to 10,000,000 people and only 160,000 complain (about the membership here) do I really care or want to change... The colors not right or the flavor is wrong... it's still dog poop. That's 1.6% complainers of the product, is that enough to make change, is that enough to even force a look?

Your feedback is appreciated!

Show us some Hi-Res pictures.

Tell us about the good and bad features?

Cir-clips?

The piston with rings and clips. They look good upon initial inspection. Piston is crisp, nice finish, not any excessive slag to be removed. The cast is good and sharp. Rings look good as well and appear to be cast iron. The clips are wire, but most aftermarket clips are.

Locating pins look like there in the right spot

Overall, a pretty good looking piston!

What I'm not telling you is that I have three others here from different manufacturer's sitting in front of me that look "not as nice" in comparison... however. One of them is very good and two not so good, but would function as designed... they just aren't as smooth. Machined surfaces are good and probably in spec. Would I install any of them... hell yes!

If I were to rate this Hyway, its an "A" by appearance! Now for a tester...

Hey Randy, it's an MS460 piston... want to try it :msp_wink:

I've got a set in a TS420 right now. It bolted up fine, runs fine. It's been through 4 weeks of pure heck so far and is holding. To give it a good real world test, I did the top end on the tail gate of my truck in a gravel parking lot with dump trucks going behind me. (Less than optimal conditions for the build..) I have no complaints. If it holds up for 6 months.. I'm happy as my crew kills these saws.

:msp_w00t:
I got a Hyway Gasket set a while back for a Husqvarna 266xp.the Quality of the Material was just as good as OEM BUT the biggest part of the holes were way off. That piston looks as good as a Meteor.

Try turning it over....

No way to let a comment like that slide, just kidding:msp_wink:

How did you know???????

Saw you peeking...

I don't have this in the 46mm selection and it was sent to me as a "whad'a you think" kind of deal. The Golf was the worst looking of the bunch... however, it looks like it would work and I'm sure that there are thousands of them that are!

I do have a piston from another manufacturer that needs tested in that flavor... after all, were all just parts testers aren't we.. PM me and lets see what we can do.

I rebuilt a 365special with a 50mm piston and cylinder by McHale I also used their gasket set which included cranks seals cylinder base gasket there was also a crankcase gasket but thankfully I didn't have to split which would have been getting near the edge of my expertise
I thought the cylinder and piston looked good and had a nice finish and seems to be working well.
the only thing I thought was slightly different was the locating pins for the rings looked to be a little bit smaller than the original ones but that didn't seem to make any difference as everything fitted perfectly

saw seems to be running good but don't have another 365 or 372 to try it out against but it did destroy a jonsered 2065 cutting ash one-day

I also have about 8 cylinders to try soon from several manufacturer's... can't wait for them.... one is a big name manufacturer we all know and they want to make improvements to the product. Finding out fast its about what you say, how you say it and who's listening.:msp_thumbup:

I think I read somewhere that aftermarket stuff was junk.

But I may be wrong.

Giggle.

You can bet I'm paying attention.

This is the sort of thing that could be a real game changer.
