it seems ive built up quite a collestion of dump saws. some work some dont. my current project is a decent little remington mighty mite super delux 3. it was non working or sparking when i got it but complete. cleaned points and plugs and it kinda fired. took the carb off and cleaned that but didnt replace anything since i didnt really know what i was doing. replaced the fuel line while i was their too. it is difficult to start and generally requires starter fluid to get going after about 20 pulls. once going its ok but iffy. restarts arent too bad unless i let it sit for a bit then im back to square one. i know i need a carb rebuild but im having an issue iding the carb. its a walbro wa but i have 2 numbers on it. in the throttle opening the number 24 is cast into it but on the outside its hand stamped wa 17. i cant find anything on either of these carbs to order the kit. any help would be nice. another question is regarding gaskets for the carb. do i need them for the intake to carb connection. the saw had one on it but it was homemade and torn. ive been trying to get it going without it but im not sure if its helping or hurting me, seems with the gasket the carb sits to high and hits the oiler bar with the throttle plate. any tricks i should know. id really like to get this going so i can move on to my prize way old poulan. things in nice shape for being decades old. im using the remington as a rebuild primer which is from around the same era, 1960's.

That homemade gasket is causing you alot of problems. Your getting a possible air leak between the carb and housing. You can pick up some gasket material at a local auto supply store and make a proper replacement one(make sure it is the correct thickness), or one may come with a carb kit.My IPL list two spacers and 1 gasket. Do you have the spacers? As for identifiying which carb you have....I'm not sure. Can you post a pic of the carb and numbers?

P.S. welcome to AS

thanks for the welcome. ive lurked for awhile on other projects but this one was abit over my head so i needed to ask directly. ill get pics of the carb tonite if i can. as far as spacers go i havent seen them but it doesnt look like i should. it goes airfilter plate, chock plate, carb, (maybe gasket) plastic intake, to motor. thanks for the help. so you actually have a parts list for this bad boy?

thanks for the advice blsnelling. ill make one up tomorrow. my computer keeps freezing when ever i try to click that like crane, must be a vista thing since i have problems like that alot. ill try it from another comp when i get near one but i appriciate it. anyway heres a few pics of the saw and carb

id take them but i think shipping will be the killer even if they were free. get a shipping quote to 01521 and ill see. do they look better than mine and how canibalized are the 2 parts?

Shipping would be around 18 bucks give or take. The one that runs is in good shape, not much paint missing. Can't really remember the other two. Seems one might be stuck and the other turned over pretty good. Everything there except bar and chain, plus air filter cover.

finally was able to check chainsawr. its under the mighty mite II listing. doesnt show any gaskets or spacers by the carb.

bought the 3 saws from epickein22. just swapped carbs from one of his and mine fired right up. didnt need a gasket at all. wierd.
