Freshly cut.
If you build, it will sell. There is a housing shortage almost everywhere now. You may shat your pants when you see the high cost for building a house today. My daughter's 3 bedroom 2 story house built on her owned lot 3 years ago was $265k to build. That was with a geo thermal heating system. Last year the town valued it at $515K. She also had the garage foundation put in. Last Fall she had the attached 2 car garage built. That 2 stall garage was $85K. Contractors are ripping people off. I told her that she was nuts to have hired tat guy. She said that 3 contractors all had almost the exact same price.
I thought i was cutting cherry. But the sapwood and heartwood color is reversed. What is it

The bark looks like cherry. The heartwood definitely has some cherry color. I haven't seen cherry with that much yellow though.View attachment 1249280
Does it smell like wintergreen?Got me stumped, but I would guess some type of Birch!
Another good answerLooks like honey locust to me.
I'm gonna go "against the grain" here and say it's highly valuable yellow oak...I thought i was cutting cherry. But the sapwood and heartwood color is reversed. What is it

The worst is the people who should be smarter/sharper but still fall for fake news articles and spew all over FB. One of my first teachers who then went on to have a very successful career in school leadership and is a wonderful person in general has totally drank the cool aid lately. So disappointing.Yup, When you prove them wrong they come up with other BS to ****** about. You just can't win. I have blocked quite a few people in the last year. I don't need their stress in my life. Some of them are posting 5 - 6 whining posts a day. I just delete family member posts that pop up on my page and snooze them for 30 days. They really need a hobby or something better to do with their life. Maybe I should invite them all over to split and stack wood to use up some of their wasted energy.![]()
LOLOLOLWell, you live in the Arctic Circle. Guys can only argue about snowmobiles and ice augers for so long.
GOLDEN oak!!I'm gonna go "against the grain" here and say it's highly valuable yellow oak...
The bark isn't right for honey locust. Not sure if it will look the same, as it was cut a few days ago, but I can post pictures of the wild cherry I cut down the other day.The bar had poulan pro. The engine got red armor 32:1
The saw itself was none other than a highly valuable wal mart Black Max 16"
I do have honey locust elsewhere on the property. I will compare with whats there and report back.
It didn't have any smell that i can tell. I was checking for the cherry smell.
Member AvaStihl has a brand new 462c for sale in the classifieds. He dropped the price to $1,000 plus shipping on the other site. Pretty good buy if anyone's looking.I've got 2 of them, one by Doc Al, one by Randy (who also did the 261 Matt loves). Those 3 are my most used saws.
The 261 is great for limbing and smaller bucking. The 462s are very fast and best for medium bucking, and when things get tough, I've got 2 ported hybrids, a ported 460, numerous 660s and a ported 661.
Nice looking 346XPRan this little beast sum yesterday, since getting back from porting , with some 23RS Pro on 18” ,
