That cap is missing on a lot of those saws, mine included.

It doesn't really matter.....;)

Make sure that you use a 3/8x8 rim on the 621 - it has the guts to pull it, even though it is a just 56 cc saw, introduced 1970.:rockn:

621 plug cap

Here are a couple pictures of my 621 just in from the field. I call it the "Ulgy Duckling". As you can see there isn't any thing over the plug and it has been staying cool even after many repeated cuts. Dammmmmmm Goooood running saw.......Bob

I might have a source for older Jonsered saws

send me an email or a msg with your Phone # and i will try to link you up with some dealers on the east coast who stock obsolete parts

I think your saw is quite nice looking, and it is newer than mine.

Mine is one of the first ones (from 1970), when they called it "Raket 621", but still running strong.:biggrinbounce2: :biggrinbounce2:

What puzzles me is the black front handlebar (if it isn't a replacement for a broken one), it is the first time I have seen that on a 621 - all the others have had gray ones....

Handle Bar mystery Solved!

The Jonsered pictured came as part of a 2 saw deal from ebay. Both turned out to be in decent condition but the other had excessive side to side crankshaft end play though higher compression. One of the two was possibly a 625. my "Ugly Duckling" is made up of the better parts of both saws. I thought the black bar looked better and went with it.
Saw Troll.....you have sharp eyes!

I'm new to these Jonsered's so I don't really know much about them as yet. I was rather hoping that my parts saw was a 625 and it's larger cylinder would fit right onto this 621 for a bit of a power increase. However when it comes to power I am really impressed with 111s that I have. Nothing like 110cc of grunt on a 36" bar to bury your boots in chips!........Bob

for the record there was 621 66 70 80 90 and 111 in those years plus a few variants the number was close to the engine cc except 621 which was 54-56cc I doubt the 625 would bolt on as the series was 625 630 and 670 much different saws the 601 was similar to 621:buttkick:

The 621 is 56 cc, and the 66 is 61 cc.

There were several other models, also.
The numbering system was a bit confusing, usually only the first digit (the first two for the 110 cc saws) indicated roughly the displacement.

The most important difference between the 621 and the 601 was that the 621 had a antivibe handle system. It actually works!:D

How are the vibration levels on those beasts?

The 111s

View attachment 33232

View attachment 33233Right now I am pretty high on the 111s. It's the biggest saw I have ever cut with to date and the best $15 deal I've ever made. I suppose it does vibrate some but it's most impressive in how much pressure you can put on the bar without bogging the engine. My son in law and I have been trying it out on a huge old Cottonwood that has washed up in the next field. It has been very impressive compared to the other saws that we have been using on the tree. ( 32" 540 Homelite- cooked the barrel!) ( 24" 257 & 32" 272 Husky) (36" 750 Echo - willing but slow!) and my "Ugly Duckling 621 with a 20" bar. I guess you could say that the party has been at the Cottonwood. Here's some pictures of the 111s........Bob

The 111s

Hi Saw Troll!.....I have repainted the two top covers with a silver metallic from Rustoleum but the clutch side cover is an NOS part that was in the box of parts that came with the two 111s's. So far we have run it about an hour and the only problem has been the starting rope breaking. If you don't remember to use the compression release at all times this thing can be rude......Bob
