Ok i let the wife win ( she thinks LOL) I have desided to down size.
I am going to buy one new saw either a 2171 or a 372.
What are the differences between these two saws.
I know the 2171 is about 1/2 lbs. heaver but every thing else seems close.
Would their be any advantages as far as power tunning beteen the two?
Dennis or John W, How much gain should be excepted?

P.S The saw in the pic. is going on the aution block unless someone is interested before i list . E-mail me if interested.
Thanks Eric

Red is better!!!
They are essentially the same saw, slightly different covers and colors.
I don't know how they came up with the weight difference, I just weighed a customers 372 powerhead and a new 2171 powerhead and they are so close I couldn't see any difference, except the Husky had a bit of gas and oil in it and the Jonsered was dry. My scale had them both at hair over 13 lbs.
Bet your Jonsered dealer will cut you a better deal! Or you could go to Sears for a Husky! (Sorry, I had to take the shot!)
You will be happy with either, just don't run too lean, or go cheap on the oil, they loose a rod bearing every now and then.
I had a 2165 (same bottom end) in this winter that ran the better part of a gallon of gas with no oil before she "seemed to loose power" in the words of the operator!

nice pics woodsjunkie, really nice saw. Out of my price range right now I'm sure. Never sold on e-bay, can't help you there.

Hey Howdy Hey Eric,

You won't go wrong with either saw. Both are great. I run Jonsey because of service. Late Dec. 2000 I purchased a Jonsey 2065 not knowing alot except they had a good reputation and there was no good Huskey service nearby. 400 cord of firewood later, I will resell it for 1/2 of what I paid! :D :D I just bought a 2165 and will take the money out of the 2065 add to it and buy anouther 2165 for a matched set of commerical firewood saws.

I didn't go with the 2071 or 2171 cuz I do not think a fella can really tell much diff in 65 to 71 cc.s but my wallet could tell the 200.00 price difference or 400.00 on 2 saws

Let the shop that gives you the best service sell the saw.

I just can't break the habit of buying red.

Eric, I do prefer the red saws myself, but yes, the two saws are indentical....Originally when they were the 2071/372 there were some differences in the favor of Jonsered, such as the oiler and clutch drum..reinforced tanks...but Husky picked up its act with the 372, and with the slight changes to the 2171...they became identical....with of course the exception of plastic and color...

I would go with pricing and service...
