Well i did it. I got my problematic 025 runnin like it should. Hey Lake, sorry to say that not having a timing key on the flywheel does not translate to a working saw. I took the advice on torque to 20 ft lbs on the flywheel nut but it still never worked, i guess some may and some won't. I replaced the flywheel with a different one and the saw cranks on a half a pull the first time out. ( Oh, yes the old flywheel was aligned properly where it should be, but, apparently would always move slightly, which of course, threw it out of timing and no sparky.) Anyway, not ditching your advice as i do value it, just saying it didn't work for me. I would suggest to anyone in my situation with an 025 to just replace the flywheel, save a heck of alot of headaches. I also rebuilt the carb as a precaution. On another note, my Tecumseh engine needs new valves and the crank rod where it bolts to the actual crank seems to have abit to much play in it, even though compression is good.
