At the shop we have an 036 Pro with a smoked jug and barrel and a 361 that lost the lower end. Somebody told the shop mgr. that the top end from the 361 was a bolt on swap to the 036 but I have doubts `cause the base gaskets, wrist pins and most other parts are different P/Ns. Anybody tried this?

A 360 Pro would be a bolt on, as it is the same chassis with some minor updates.

The 361 is a completely new design, and I hightly doubt the cylinder will bolt on. The engine's are completely differnent designs, and the 361 is 59 cc's versus the 61.5cc's of the 036. You can find 036 top ends on ebay quite cheaply and easily.

Timberpig is 100% correct. the 360 and 361 are completely different and won't bolt on. Just buy another 036 jug/piston.
