All I want to do is take the gas tank off the afore mentioned and I can't figger out how to get past those darn plastic plugs !Do you need a special tool or what ? Jon

The plastic plugs with flat tops simply snap in and keep the rubber mounts from filling up with crud. Pry them up and off with a flat screwdriver and then you can remove the hex screw inside which holds the rubber mount in.

o.k. , o.k., I got it ! Not knowing what I was doing and of course being sceptical of breaking something , I plunged a screwdriver and pryed it out . Unique concept of mounting . Thanks again Scott . And yes I am one who really appreciates the fellowship and brotherhood of the chainsaw . Jon

no problem, but you still have to remove the intake boot, impulse hose and wiring to get the tank off.good luck.

Yeah, like they said, they just pull out. They hold the outer piece of the mount to the crankcase. put a lil oil on them to get the back in easy if they arn't already soaked in oil.

i used to use oil, but it's not good for the ruber mount. a small amount of silacone works well.

I spray the rubber mounts with silicone on a regular basis. It keeps them soft and helps them last longer
