044 flywheel on MS440?

Are the fly wheels from a 044 and MS440 interchangeable? I noticed the MS440 had a slight difference in fin count?per section. Also how bad will a saw vibrate, with one fin half broken off. Are the Flywheel and cranks actually matched and balanced from the factory? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank You Mike

Flywheels are balanced but not as a matched pair with a particular crankshaft. Even if you didn't feel a vibration it would be unwise to run a flywheel with a broken fin as this would surely stress the crank. I am not sure about interchangeability.

To compensate for the missing half fin, cut an equal amount off one on the opposite side. If they are odd numbered divide the removal between the two fins opposite.
