Last week, I had two 24”+ trees that were causing a potentially dangerous situation around a building, so I hired a professional to take them down. I hired him to basically just fall the trees and we were going to cut up the trees ourselves and save the trunk for slabbing.
So I’m limbing with my 10 year old MS180. It’s cutting ok, but occasionally it would stall and I figured out I had a cracked fuel line. My wife suggested that I go buy that “new” “bigger” saw that I had always talked about. Go big or go home, right?
So there’s a brand new Stihl 461 in my living room with a 30” bar, 3/8 063.
Ive got plans for the 30” bar, but I wanted to pick up a shorter bar for more mundane tasks. Is there any reason not to buy an 050 bar instead of an 063 bar on a 70cc saw? I’m having much better luck finding 050 bars and chains.
In the meantime, the ms180 is leaking bar oil on the floor, seems like it always has. Other than always draining it, is there some trick to keep it from leaking and getting ugly looks from my wife?
