i didn't have a chance to run it. i just came in from pressure washing the house. maybe after church tomorrow. i'm going to my farm on monday, so it will definitely get a little use then.
yeller, it's really a pretty simple job to do the swap. just take the bolt holes slow. i must have taken the cylinder on and off at least a dozen times.

Will do; easy does it, huh? Also, I'd like to hear from you how your muffler mod works out. It looks like your new opening will blow a lot of exhaust right out the right side with no deflector to redirect it. My muffler has a largish round hole plus a "gill slit" opening in front of the hole, which will direct gasses back toward the deflector rather than straight out the right side. I thought about taking out that gill slit and opening a hole back to the round exhaust opening but then decided I'd better run it first and see if it seems choked up. But it is a big jump from 85cc to 99cc. Or maybe I will get a dual port front cover later? Does anyone know if the 066/660 ported front cover fits the rear can on the 064? Inside, I opened up the front of the perforated baffle but left the sides intact. Isthat what you did?

Thanks for the info,

Olyeller

i was going to use a 288 deflector, but i decided that it really would not fit well and is too short to turn the exhaust forward. i bought a piece of sheet metal from lowes and will be fabbing a deflector that will send the exhaust more forward.
i was surprised how quiet the saw was bf i MM.

Thats a fine looking cylinder. Great to see the progress on these kits, especially on the 064/066's.

on the bolt holes just run a drill through them with a bit that is 1 size bigger than the existing hole:greenchainsaw:

mine has some serious grunt

i buggered the hole and got it a little too far forward. the compression on this saw kicks the brand new decomp closed every time the cord is pulled, regardless of whether it starts or not.

I was kidding anyway, but isn't that a husky decomp in a Stihl? That's probably why it runs good, its got husky parts.

My 066 BB was the same way, as are my ported & popped Efcos. That's the kind of problem I like to have, though. :D

I think you'll be pleased with your saw. Good work.

He said 185 psi. Some decomps are stiffer than others, but ...... everyone who has the current 066 BB says the same thing about having to hold the decomp down.

But does the decomp still work? Or is it better to just put a plug in the hole in place of the decomp?

Why did you use the Husky decomp button? Is the thread pitch different than with Stihl decomp buttons? Also, it looks like you just notched your cover to gain access to the decomp button?

well, my expected time to run the 064BB turned into a chance to repair a busted pipe. by the time that was fixed it was too late to go cut any wood.
i have been eyeing a nice pine that was cut to make way for a four-laning near my farm. my brother and i decided to take the 064BB and a 7900 over and cut a few cookies.
the pine is full of pitch and is 20". i have the 064 tuned pretty conservative while everything settles in. both saws were wearing rsc on 24" bars. both were fairly recently ground. i am not saying this was a scientific test, but it was interesting that the 064BB was about 30% faster. we cut and timed about 10 cookies with each saw and the results were very consistant. this is a very powerful saw. i only wish there were more meat left in the ports so that i could tweak it a bit. i am sure there is a little, but i am happy for now.
i brought a big chunk of the tree hope. i hope to get some vids up in the next few days. i have to cut the grass tomorrow and my son has football practice on thurs, so it might have to wait for a couple of days.
