Makes me not want to ever rebuild my ‘92 Red-eye, lol
Thank you so much Dave! I had already listed my 064 for parts on EBAY out of frustration when I came across your excellent work. I had boxes of 066 parts so I replaced my flywheel, mounted an aftermarket unlimited coil, changed to a 066 recoil cover and started the saw! After reading through 20 odd pages of threads and going over a bunch of tech notes and IPLs I put this together hopefully it is helpful to somebody. The many fine folks here were invaluable in helping me understand as much of this as I can absorb so far
Pictures at the bottom of the post and corrections/additions welcome.
Thanks to Jacob J for the tons of good info on this topic.
Also attached is some interesting 064/066 documentation in a PDF that I hadn't seen here before.

QUESTION - I have a flywheel 1203/1204 with a single keyway, when I line up the magnets with a dual keyway 1203 flywheel the single keyway lines up with the 1:00 keyway rather than the 12:00 keyway when viewed from the outboard side. So is this a limited or unlimited flywheel??
Thanks
Dave

Yeah eventually when I get bored of seeing it on the shelf! For sale?
Otherwise known as a flat top. Just so you don’t get laughed at next time you call it that lol
But unfortunately I don't think it is what is known, over here anyway, as a "tin back" (very early model) or I'd make Tom an offer and keep it here in Oz.Otherwise known as a flat top. Just so you don’t get laughed at next time you call it that lol
Haha thanks mate!Otherwise known as a flat top. Just so you don’t get laughed at next time you call it that lol
Tin back is probably more referring to the 064 with the metal air filter cover. This one is plastic. Not 100% certain but I don’t know if the 066 came with the metal air filter coverBut unfortunately I don't think it is what is known, over here anyway, as a "tin back" (very early model) or I'd make Tom an offer and keep it here in Oz.
Nah…a real flat top doesn’t have a decompOtherwise known as a flat top. Just so you don’t get laughed at next time you call it that lol
Nah…a real flat top doesn’t have a decomp
064 /066 threads are just about my favourite. Well done Tom for giving it a bumpAgreed- the decomp puts it in that last variation 1996-98 before the humpbacks arrived.
