I've never heard of the 1111 series powerhead (the 050, 051, 075, 076, and related chopsaws) being offered in sizes other than 89cc and 111cc. That doesn't mean there isn't.

Hello i am pretty shure the main diff. between a 076 and an 076 super is that there is no comp.release on the super ( at least there is none on the one i own ) I think this is because of the newer type pawl recoil starter. Where as the 075 and early 076,s used the shoe type with the grabbing edge. The pawl type engauges more towards the outter edge of the flywheel giving more leverage for the spinning over of the engine thus reduceing the need for a comp. release. All 3 saws are 111 cc and take the same crankshaft as a 051 I think also the timming on the super was altered a little to improve power ! All of these saws have loads of low end grunt i love to buck huge oak trees with them !

I'm not so sure that the lack of a compression release is the key feature of an 076S. Seems like the trend is to put decomps on anything and everything down to weedeaters, not remove them. You can remove decomps and replace it with a plug. Bar-burner, I'd take a close look at the top of the barrel. You should see a plug where the decomp would go.

I'm curious as to differences of the Super. Other the decomp, I'm not disagreeing with anything said.

76 super

Hello arboristSite, this is my first reply. I bought the 076 super on ebay yesterday. I have wanted a 76 for a while. a few years back, I ran one and was impressed, however, i would not want to use it all day cause of the weight. Just think they are cool! Good for big stump cuts too!

I know that one difference between the 076 and the 076 super is the height of the intake. Look at the difference between the one I bid on and the one that is still listed on ebay which is a straight 076. As for timing and porting, im trying to talk to stihl techs to find out the answer. I dont think there is a difference in displacement, both the 75 and 76's were 111 and I think that that is the same with the 76super. Thanks guys. Hope to talk to you all again, SEE YA.

I know that the displacement on all 076 saws was 111cc for all of that line of saws. The difference is probably in the timing, porting, intake configuration, or some other things on it are different.

I noticed that extra height, and also that the saw looks repainted on the white, as the chain brake is also painted over. I think you got a rare, cool saw and the price was reasonable. Just hope he is accurate on the loads of compression statement. Good Luck, let us know how she runs! Mike

076 Super Muffler

I just talked to the saw-king. I think he is up there are a shop in Washington state. According to him and his literature, the difference between the 76 and the 76 super are in the intake block and the muffler. Im waiting till tomorrow to talk to a guy who has helped me before with a few chainsaw projects in the past from Stihl tech Ohio. He worked in stihl tech back in the day. Thanks for responding to my reply earlier, take care guys. See ya

I am not sure if it is still there but i know a man that has a brandnew 075 still in the box , never had gas in it, if anyone wants it i will call him to see if it is still there which it should be

you may have but there was more than one there , i know cause i found them in the basement , you know the place no one else has seen but alot want to see

076 super

Hey JimL, his name is Nick,,,he works tech service at Bryansville Equipment. I know that Bryansville is the distributer for West Virginia Stihl and obviously Ohio. He helped navigate me through an 090 restoration a couple years ago. He always seemed to be a straight shooter, if he didnt know the answer, he would find it from someone who did. The whole mid-atlantic stihl tech department was at training today. When I called Ohio, the gentleman in tech service recommend I talk to Nick, who was out. I used to remember his last name but forgot it. Thanks, Talk to you later.

Ah ole nick. He cracks me up whenever he answers the phone. Makes it sound like he is not very motivated to help you. Bryan Equipment Sales, Loveland OH. Ive been there several times.
Dan, Nick, and Scott work in the tech department. I talk to nick on a daily basis almost.

BTW its Nick Shank.

Yea you are right JimL, he always sounds a little disinterested when he answers. I guess since you talk to him so much you know thats just the way he sounds. I tell you, he really helped me put together my 090 and worked with my dealer here in WV to get me what I needed. He is the guy to go to when you need someone to separtate the bull from what is real. Ya know, sometimes its nice to just be able to talk to someone who knows there stuff and if they dont they will tell you they dont. Nick always seems honest and straight forward every time I talk to him. Thanks for your response.See ya

Oh yah Ive got more than a few old parts from him for some of my projects.
