I have a vintage 08s stihl. It will run but but when you tru to cut it looses power. The carb is an old tillison. The needles are very sensetive. When full power is pulled on trigger, it will try to die. HELP!!!!

Start with the basics. Compression,tune up, fuel fliter, plug, clean air filter, good fuel lines,fresh fuel.
Pop the bottom off the carb and check the screen and diaphragms. If they are hard or stretched out, get a kit for the carb.
Make sure the gaskets between the carb, intake block and cylinder are good. If they are ripped or squeezed, replace.
Remember, you can play with old, worn out parts all day and get nowhere. Diagnose and repair, works every time.

That is a funny old bird they governed the thing with the choke so don't be fooled buy the carb setting. Open the high speed needle up and keep trying to cut with it until it will pull the chain in the cut.
