I went to my local stihl dealer today,to show them my 090! the 090 was never sold here in sweden,so they had never seen one "live" before! I asked him if he could get parts for it! so he called "stihl sweden"! and they said:no problem! stihl germany still today makes thousands of both the 090 and the 070 for south america and some countrys in asia :) so he could get me any parts for it! they only need the first four numbers in the serialnumber to know exactly what model of the 090 i have!! Then i asked him the BIG question!!: if i want to buy a brand new 090 from germany, could you get me one? he said: if you want one,i´ll get you one!:greenchainsaw: :jawdrop:  !!!!! I just wanted to let you guy´s know this,so you know that the 090 is still alive!!! i will be back with more info when i know more!!

Have a nice day!!

Stihl told me they don't make the 090 in Germany any more - just the 070, but most of the parts are the same.

That was what i was thinking before too!! but that´s what they(stihl sweden) said to my dealer!! but i´m gonna make them look it up real good! But even if they only make the 070, can i buy a new 070 and put on a new 090 cylinder, piston and the bigger clutch, and that way have me a brand new 090? or are any other parts different too? i know this really would be a crazy thing to do! buying a "old style" saw for that kind of money! a 880 would probably be a cheaper and better saw! but hey, a 090 is a 090 right?:D

An 090 is the king of teh hill as far as the big saws go. Neither Stihl nor Husky nor any other manufacturer as far as I can tell has built another saw with quite that much displacement (137ccs). Its great that they are still made because that means the lucky few here that own one ought to be able to keep getting parts for teh forseeable future. Good info!
